📖 SA-MP Text Roleplay Guide
This guide introduces new players to text roleplay, including how to use /me and /do, and how to start, carry out, and finish roleplay interactions.

1. Understanding the Commands

/me → Describes your character’s actions.
Example:

Code: Select all

/me extends his hand for a handshake.

In chat: John Doe extends his hand for a handshake.

/do → Describes environment, scene detail, or clarifies what others see.
Examples:

Code: Select all

/do The engine would still be running.

Code: Select all

/do How would the officer see John’s mood?
Use /me for actions, /do for surroundings and outcomes.

2. Starting Roleplay Interactions

1. Approach naturally — walk up in-game, don’t instantly force engagement.
Example:

Code: Select all

/me adjusts his uniform and nods toward the stranger.
2. Introduce your character — a short line of dialogue works:
"Good evening, sir. Need a hand?"

3. Carrying Out Interactions

• Balance actions and dialogue.
• End actions so others can respond.

Good:

Code: Select all

/me slides a form across the counter, awaiting a signature.

Poor:

Code: Select all

/me forces the man to sign the form immediately.
(no chance to respond)

• Use /do to clarify or check outcomes:

Code: Select all

/do Would the door be unlocked?

Code: Select all

/do The patient would be unconscious but breathing.

4. Finishing Roleplay Interactions

1. Close naturally — exit with an action or line.
Example:

Code: Select all

/me waves before walking away toward his car.

2. Confirm with /do if needed:

Code: Select all

/do The officer would leave the scene once dismissed.
3. If you must leave OOC, use brackets:
(( Gotta go, thanks for the RP! ))

5. General Tips

• Keep /me actions realistic and short.
• Avoid Powergaming (forcing actions).
• Avoid Metagaming (using OOC info IC).
• Read others’ emotes carefully before replying.
• Treat RP as collaborative storytelling.

6. Quick Examples

Handshake Scene

Code: Select all

/me extends his hand toward the man.
/do Does the man accept the handshake?

Other player:

Code: Select all

/me clasps his hand firmly, nodding once.
Traffic Stop

Code: Select all

/me switches on the patrol car’s lights.
/do Would the vehicle pull over?

Other player:

Code: Select all

/me slows down and stops by the roadside.

7. Glossary of Common RP Terms

IC — In Character. Anything your character does or says in the roleplay world.
OOC — Out of Character. Player talk, usually in double brackets: (( like this )).
PG / Powergaming — Forcing actions without giving others a chance to respond.
MG / Metagaming — Using OOC knowledge in IC situations.
DM / Deathmatching — Attacking or killing without proper roleplay reason.
CK / Character Kill — Permanent death of a character.
PK / Player Kill — Temporary death; character can return but forgets the scene.
RDM / Random Deathmatch — Killing random players without roleplay context.
Fear RP — Acting realistically in fear-inducing situations (e.g., valuing your life).
Fail RP — Unrealistic or nonsensical behavior that breaks immersion.
Emote — A /me action. Example:

Code: Select all

/me scratches his chin thoughtfully.

Scene — A contained roleplay event, such as a traffic stop, robbery, or medical call.

Summary

Use /me for actions, /do for environment and clarification, balance dialogue with emotes, and always give others the chance to respond. Respectful, collaborative roleplay makes the experience better for everyone.
